Elizabeth Nyarai Humba: Class of 1980

To celebrate 35 fantastic years of North Hertfordshire College, we’re calling on all our student alumni to share their memories of NHC.

Take Elizabeth for example – she studied A Level Psychology, Economics, and English at NHC between 1979 and 1980, and got in touch to share her story. Check out what Elizabeth sent us below:

“My two years at college were the foundation upon which I built everything else. It was such a safe, warm place where I felt fully accepted.

“North Hertfordshire College championed independence, which made me very responsible in terms of attendance.

. I’m retired now, but when I was working, I would draw on the self-leadership, critical thinking and research skills I gained while studying at North Hertfordshire College.

“My favourite memory from my time at North Hertfordshire College has to be the day I got my A Level results.

“I’d like to give a shoutout to my favourite lecturer, Martin, who taught Psychology. The passion my lecturers had for their subject made me, in turn, super passionate about social science and research.

“I can’t remember many names but another big shoutout to my friends from Zimbabwe: Perpetua, the two Lilies, Janet, Wesley, and Jonathan!”
