Freddy McGovern - Class of 2022

Say hello to Freddy, part of the NHC class of 2022. Freddy studied Business at NHC between 2020 and 2022, and now he is a full-time Marketing Executive at Alchemy Sports Media!

We caught up with Freddy to find out more about his memories of NHC:

How did NHC support you in preparing for this role?

“NHC provided effective education across many areas of business. One of these areas was marketing, which helped me to explore the sector before jumping into the world of work.

“NHC provided flexible hours which allowed me to begin one day a week work experience prior to my apprenticeship. If I had attended sixth form, I wouldn’t have had the freedom to begin my work experience – which later turned into an apprenticeship, and now a fully-qualified, exciting career in marketing and sports media.”

What takeaways from NHC do you use in your current role?

“NHC helped me take accountability for myself. After leaving secondary school, College made me understand that I need to put the work in for myself and for my future.”

What’s your favourite memory of your time at NHC?

“I made many great friends from surrounding areas, who I wouldn’t have connected with by staying at my local sixth form.

The trips were also very memorable – including a trip to the Magistrate’s Court.”

Would you like to give a shoutout to any tutors, staff or friends from your time at NHC?

“Chris Lucas is an absolute legend, Mia Newbitt was a great operator, and Liz Chatman was very friendly. I enjoyed seeing her throughout my second year.”
