Jenny Roberts – Class of 2022

Meet Jenny, who studied a Business course with North Hertfordshire College between 2020 and 2022. Since finishing her course, Jenny has since gone on to start a career as an HR Advisor!

Jenny reached out to share some of her favourite memories of her time at NHC – check out what she sent us below:

How did NHC support you in preparing for your role?

“NHC played a big part in building my confidence and preparing me for the world of work. It gave me a strong foundation in communication, organisation, and problem-solving, and the support from tutors really helped me push myself.

“After NHC, I went on to complete my Level 5 CIPD in People Management, and whilst studying for that I secured my first full-time role in HR. I genuinely believe the skills and mindset I developed at NHC set me up for both that opportunity and my transition into the corporate world.”

What takeaways from NHC do you use in your current role?

“Now that I’m working as an HR Advisor with four years’ experience in the corporate world, I’m still using so many of the skills I developed at NHC.

“Communication, professionalism, and time management are key in my role, especially when dealing with employee relations and supporting different stakeholders. It also helped me build confidence and emotional intelligence, which are so important when working in HR.”

What’s your favourite memory of your time at NHC?

“My favourite thing I remember about the College is definitely the sense of community. Whether it was working on group projects or just supporting each other day to day, it was a really positive and encouraging environment that made learning enjoyable.”

Would you like to give a shoutout to any tutors, staff or friends from your time at NHC?

“A big thank you to Chris, Vicky, and Mia for being so supportive and always pushing me to do my best. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

“I’m also grateful to all the tutors, staff, and my classmates for the support, friendships, and great memories along the way.”
